Day 1 - Arrive Auckland
Arrive into Auckland, the "City of Sails" where time is available today
for optional sightseeing, perhaps a visit to the Skytower or Kelly Tarlton's
Underwater World, both recommended and maybe experience the excellent
cuisine of the many harbourside cafes and restaurants.

Day 2 - Auckland to Waitomo (L,D)
Journey south on the coach through rich farmland. Take a guided boat ride
through the famous Waitomo Glow-worm Caves, followed by a BBQ lunch. Tonight
meet and visit with the locals on an overnight stay with a New Zealand
family.

Day 3 - Waitomo to Rotorua (B)
This morning experience the thrill and adventure of underground Black
Water rafting. Continue on to Rotorua, where the awesome powers of nature
are on display. Intense underground thermal activity gives rise to boiling
mud pools, hissing geysers and mineral-rich hot pools.

Day 4 - At Rotorua (D)
Today visit Te Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve to see the gushing geysers,
experience farm activities at the Agrodome and view New Zealand Flora
and Fauna at a Nature Park. This evening experience Maori culture with
a visit to a local marae for a hangi feast and Moari concert.
Day 5 - Rotorua to Auckland
The town and its surroundings are an adventure seeker's paradise, with
scenic flights, white water rafting, bungy jumping, trout fishing and
mountain bike riding, being some of the popular pursuits. The tour ends
here in Rotorua today.

Your Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 - Rotorua to Lake Taupo to Napier
Travel south on the coach through huge pine forests to Lake Taupo and
visit the thundering Huka Falls. Take a jetboat ride on the Waikota River,
which is included. Continue on to Napier, the Art Deco capital of New
Zealand.

Day 2 - At Napier
Visit Cape Kidnappers Reserve, home of the largest Gannet colony in the
world. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided walking tour of central Napier,
to view the many Art Deco buildings, many of which were built after the
great fire after the earthquake in 1931.
Day 3 - Napier to Wellington
Travel through Hawkes Bay, one of the country's largest grape growing
regions. Visit a local winery before continuing on to Wellington, the
capital city of New Zealand. Wellington is a vibrant city that boasts
a thriving cultural life as well as having cafes and restaurants.

Day 4 - Wellington
Today explore the many shops around Queens Wharf, visit the Te Papa Museum,

Your Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1: Auckland - Wellington
Sit back and relax as the comfortable Overlander train takes you down
the North Island through fertile farmlands and past the volcanic plateau
with Mt Ruapehu. Rocky seascapes bring you into Wellington for 2 nights
stay.
Day 2: At Wellington
A whole day to explore the capital city. We have included a morning tour
of the parliament buildings 'The Beehive', Old St Paul's Cathedral, a
Cable Car ride through the Botanic Gardens and panoramic city views from
Mt Victoria. The afternoon is free to explore - Te Papa, the National
Museum and many other attractions. Overnight Wellington.
DAY 3: Wellington - Napier
You join the BAY EXPRESS train and travel along the rocky Kapiti Coast
to Palmerston North. The steep Manawatu Gorge takes you through the Tararua
mountains to southern Hawkes Bay and onto Napier, the Art Deco capital
of New Zealand. You will be met and taken on a wine tour to 4 top vineyards,
as well as a tour of the district. Overnight in Napier
DAY 4: Napier - Rotorua
This morning is free - you can explore Napier, rebuilt in the Art Deco
style after an earthquake in 1931. Your coach leaves after midday to take
you across the Rangitaiki plains to deep blue Lake Taupo and then on through
the thermal steam of Wairakei and vast pine forests to Rotorua where you
stay 2 nights.
DAY 5: At Rotorua
The half day Grand Tour is included. You will see roaring geysers, boiling
mud pools and steaming lakes at the thermal area, tame trout and kiwi
at the springs and perfom1ing sheep and dogs at the Agrodome. This afternoon
is free - there are many activities to tempt you - such as bathing in
the thermal waters. For a small additional cost you could stay on a farm
tonight. Overnight in Rotorua
DAY 6: Rotorua - Auckland
After leaving Rotorua's volcanic charms, we travel by the Geyserland train
through the Waikato valley back to Auckland, arriving at 5.45 pm.
(Optional return by coach via the Waitomo Caves at additional cost)

to the beautiful Bay of Islands. Arrive in Paihia and visit the Waitangi
Treaty House where New Zealand's most important document of state was
signed. The rest of your day is at leisure.
DAY 3: Bay of Islands
A day to enjoy the many leisure activities available - perhaps a day excursion
along ninety mile beach to Cape Reinga, deep sea fishing or perhaps visit
historic Russell or Kerikeri (own expense).
DAY 4: Bay of Islands/Auckland
Today cruise to Cape Brett and the famous 'Hole in the Rock'. Your return
coach trip will have you back in downtown Auckland at approximately 8.15pm.

Country then travel on to the fascinating Waitomo Caves. Here you will
experience a guided tour of the famous Glow Worm Grotto including an underground
boat ride. Continue on to Rotorua. In the evening enjoy an authentic Maori
Hangi (feast) and Concert on a Marae (Village) with Tamaki Tours.
DAY 5: Rotorua/Auckland
Today you will experience the many varied sights that Rotorua has to offer.
Visit the wildlife at Paradise Valley Springs, a performing sheep show
at the Agrodome and Te Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve. Then board the Geyserland
Express train which will return you to Auckland through forests and farmlands.
Arrive in downtown Auckland at approx. 5.45 pm.
