Day 1: Auckland - Bay of Islands
Past Westhaven Yacht Marina and over the Harbour Bridge to Northland. Travel up the Hibiscus coast, past beaches and seaside villages and the city of Whagarei to reach Paihia in the Bay of Islands by lunch time. In the afternoon we have included a cruise through the Bay to Hole in the Rock on a sleek high speed catamaran. Stay 2 nights in Paihia.

Day 2: Cape Reinga Day Tour
Travel north to Puketi Kauri forest, where centuries old giant kauri trees stand silent and majestic in their original habitat. Then on to the very top of New Zealand where the the Tasman Sea meets the Pacific Ocean in a fury of white waves and currents. In the afternoon, cross giant sand dunes to Ninety Mile Beach where your coach speeds along the sand on its way south to visit the 'Time Machine' Wagener Museum. We have included a tour which will take you to the white water rapids at Huka Falls, the Wairakei thermal area, Aratiatia River Rapids and Craters of the Moon. Overnight at Lake Taupo

DAY 3: Taupo - Tongariro National Park
South along the lake shore then up to the triple snow covered peaks of the Tongariro National Park. On to Mt Ruapehu where the park headquarters stakk will advise you on hiking/scenic walks for this afternoon and tomorrow morning.

Day 4: National Park to Auckland or Wellington
This morning is free for optional activities. In the afternoon join the Overlander train (to Auckland or Wellington) for a comfortable and scenic journey through the North Island.

After Waiouru, drop down through the steep valleys of the Rangitikei river then the Manawatu plains. Day 4: Manawatu - Wellington

Day 1: Auckland - Rotorua
Relax as the GEYSERLAND railcar travels alongside the Waikato River to Hamilton and across rich farming country to the Mamaku Hills and Rotorua. Your Tour coach meets the train, and this afternoon, the half day sightseeing tour is included. See roaring geysers, boiling mud and steaming pools at the thermal area, tame trout and Kiwi at the springs and performing sheep and dogs at the Agrodome. Your coach will take you to your accommodation. We recommend you attend a delicious Maori hangi (feast) and concert tonight (optional). Overnight in Rotorua.

Day 2: Rotorua - Waitomo - Auckland
Travel today is by coach. After leaving Rotorua's volcanic charms, we travel to Waitomo Caves. Enjoy a subterranean boat ride under an eerie canopy of glow worm lights. Then onto Auckland via the Waikato river valley, Hamilton and the Bombay Hills. The coach arrives in Auckland at 5.10 pm.

Your Day by Day Itinerary

DAY 1: Wellington - Napier
You join the Bay Express train and travel along the rocky Kapiti Coast to Palmerston North. The steep Manawatu Gorge takes you through the Tararua mountains to southern Hawkes Bay and onto Napier, the Art Deco capital of New Zealand. You will be met and taken on a wine tour to the vineyards, as well as a tour of the district. Overnight in Napier

DAY 2: Napier - Rotorua
This morning is free - you can explore Napier, rebuilt after an eartquake in 1931 in the Art Deco style. Your coach leaves after midday to take you across the Rangitaiki Plains to deep blue Lake Taupo. Past Wairakei, with its steam clouds, and on through vast pine forests to Rotorua where you stay 2 nights.

DAY 3: At Rotorua
The half day Grand Tour is included. You will see roaring geysers, boiling mud pools and steaming lakes at the thermal area, tame trout and kiwi at the springs and perfoming sheep and dogs at the Agrodome. This afternoon is free - there are many activities to tempt you - such as bathing in the thermal waters. For a small additional cost you could stay at a country home tonight. Overnight in Rotorua

DAY 4: Rotorua - Auckland
This morning is free. The Geyserland train leaves in the early afternoon to take you via the Mamaku Hills, the Waikato Valley, Hamilton and Pukekohe to Auckland where you arrive at 5.45 pm.

Day 4. Cruise to Waiheke Island (B)
Cruise to Waiheke Island and enjoy a day at leisure, perhaps dine at a stylish cafe, unwind and sunbathe on an unspoilt beach, walk through native bush or explore Waiheke's scenic vineyards. Our return journey includes sights of Auckland, City of Sails from it's sparkling harbour.

Day 5. Auckland at Leisure (BD)

Day 5. Rotorua at leisure (BD)
Today is yours to select from any one or more of the multitude of attractions available. Chhose from fishing for rainbow trout, four wheel drive adventures, golfing, jet boating, forest walks or even a tramp on a dormant volcano.

Day 6. Geyserland Train to Auckland (B)
This afternoon board The Geyserland train which takes us from Rotorua to Auckland, through a feast of great scenery much of which is not visible by road. Overnight: The Quest Hotel
