INDEPENDENT TRAVEL

Independent travelling in all its various forms and pre-planned independent touring have becoming an increasingly popular way to travel through New Zealand. Independence can mean anything from car or motorhome rental, a city stopover break or staying each night at a different hotel or motel with an accommodation pass to a fascinating train journey on either island, cruising around New Zealand or staying on a farm and "doing-your-own-thing" each day. The possibilities and choices here are endless....

The natural inclination for most independent travellers is not to plan or book too far ahead, but by doing so you can save yourself a lot of time, money and disappointment too. All the elements that can be pre-booked as Independent units, such as accommodation, cars and motorhomes, rail or bus travel and transfers etc., can be found in the "Transportation" and "Accommodation" parts of this section.

In the "Independent Touring" part of this sections there are a number of tours programmes included that have been pre-arranged, using independent elements under "Pre-Planned Tours." Then a full variety of "Mini-Breaks" from City Stopovers to Resort Stays, along with a selection of full and half day "Sightseeing" opportunities on both island, plus a selection of Luxury "Cruises" that are possible to take around the country at certain times of the year.

Finally, for those of you who would like to devise your own Independent Travel package and are not so familiar with what to do in each area, we have a unique "Tour Planner" which is currently under construction and will be able to assist you in putting together your own itinerary in an easy, workable manner.
