About Silversea Cruises
Silversea
Cruises was formed in the early 1990s by the Lefebvre family of Rome,
the former owners of Sitmar Cruises. Working with a small, but select
group of professionals they crafted what was to become one of the world's
pre-eminent cruise lines. The name "Silversea" was chosen because it connotes
quality and luxury as well as capturing the romance and special sensations
of the sea.
Silversea's ships were designed to incorporate the
very best elements of the world's favourite cruise ships: an open, single
seating dining room; an elaborate show lounge for nightly entertainment-an
element missing on other small luxury ships; an Italian crew and European
staff; exquisite decor; superb service and cuisine; and luxurious all
suite accommodations.
Today, Silversea Cruises has set a new cruise industry
standard in the ultra-luxury market by bridging the gap between ocean-liner
and small-ship cruising. The line is distinguished by its all-suite ships,
all-inclusive pricing, imaginative global itineraries and genuine hospitality.
The Ships
There
is something magical about discovering the world from your very own private
veranda. Feeling the ocean breeze caress your skin. Listening to the surf
gently roll by. Which is why seventy-five percent of our all-suite accommodations
feature a pri-vate teak veranda. Beautifully appointed with all the comforts
of home, every suite features a marbled bath with a full-sized tub.
In all there are offer six different types of suites.
Ranging in size from almost 250 square feet to over 1,300, each is decorated
in hushed pastels and warm hues and offers a rare degree of finesse and
refinement. Luxury is found in every detail. Cut crystal. Crisp Frette
linens. Personalized stationery. Bvlgari soap, shampoo and lo-tion. And
yes, our signature teak verandas.
Gourmet cuisine elegantly served in two beautiful
restaurants or course-by-course in the intimacy of a private suite, fine
European service by an attentive, hand-picked staff and spacious suites
featuring private verandas and sweeping panoramic views, are among the
earthly pleasures indulged aboard "The World's Best Cruise Line".
Silver Cloud
In just three years of Silversea's sister ships have
captured the hearts of the world's most discriminating travellers. Silversea's
elegant, ultra-luxury vessel Silver Cloud along with its sister ship Silver
Wind, carry just 296 pampered guests in 148 ocean-view suites (75 percent
featuring private verandas) offering spectacular views of the world's
most beautiful destinations.
Silver Shadow
Built upon the same style and substance by the team
who crafted Silver Cloud and Silver Wind, the inimitable Silver Shadow
is designed to cradle guests in a similarly elegant yet casual atmosphere.
Slightly larger at 28,000 gross registered tons, Sil-versea's newest vessel
sails with a distinguished guest list of only 388 and a gene-rous crew
of 295.
Dining
The Restaurant
Step
into The Restaurant and you are magically transported to one of Europe's
great dining establishments. Where the art of fine dining is a wondrously
engaging affair. And our open-seating philosophy lets you dine with the
companions of your choice, at the time you prefer.
As you relax and enjoy the atmosphere of elegance and conviviality, European-trained
waiters - hand-picked from the finest hotels and restaurants - graciously
serve repasts on Silversea signature china. Fine wines from around the
world are carefully poured into European crystal glasses.
Yet, no matter how polished the Christofle silverware or how crisp the
Frette linens, they are always eclipsed by the bright culinary artistry
of Silversea's chefs. The ultimate taste of luxury.
The Terrace Café
As
the latitude and longitude of your ship change, so do the possibilities
for lunch and dinner, especially in The Terrace Cafe. Fragrant truffles
from Rome. Delicate blueberries from St. Petersburg. Cool mangos from
Bangkok. Fresh Italian pastas, made to order with your favorite sauces.
The possibilities - and the menus - are limitless. An alternative to the
more formal Restaurant, The Terrace Cafe offers the same culinary excellence
but in a more casual setting. Evening menus accent regional Italian specialties,
while lunch and breakfast offer sumptuous buffets and hearty grilled fare.
And, as always, you have the option to dine when and where you prefer
- including a table alfresco with the world and its bounty spread before
you.
In-Suite Dining
Breakfast
in bed...a late lunch...an intimate dinner for two...whatever your whim,
it can be served in the privacy of your own suite. Or alfresco on your
veranda, if you prefer. Our regular room service menu is available 24
hours a day. During regular dining hours, however, you can order from
the Restaurant menu, with your meal served course by course. What could
be more convenient?
Onboard Activities
Afternoon activities
With
days of leisure slipping into and out of exotic ports, you discover faraway
places. Yet your favorite destination of all is your Silversea ship. With
neither schedules nor routines to hem you in, you enjoy endless pursuits
among the ship's amenities. It starts with breakfast alfresco under a
golden sun. Perhaps a soothing massage after an invigorating jog. A dozen
laps then a lazy cat nap. The day is yours to design. Escape to the Mandara
spa or shop our designer boutiques, including the first Bvlgari gallery
at sea. Work out in The Fitness Center or stir up some fun in a culinary
competition. Participate in a game of contract bridge or retreat to your
suite with a variety of videos from The Library. Before tea is served
in The Panorama Lounge, you accept the Captain's invitation to tour The
Bridge. The perfect end to a perfect day.
Evening Entertainment
As
the night falls, the camaraderie rises and The Bar comes alive with merriment.
The sounds of a live quartet mix smoothly with conversations. A shimmering
dance floor beckons you to waltz. Whatever your mood, The Bar provides
the perfect setting for mingling with new-found friends. The Show Lounge
features the greatest of Gershwin. The best of Broadway. First-run films
screened on Cinema Night. You will applaud the dazzling troupes of entertainers
- as well as the spaciousness and elegance that surround you. A dramatic
multi-tiered performance venue, The Show Lounge is designed to seat each
guest in a single, unobstructed sitting - something no other ship in Silversea's
class can match. The nearby Casino, with its elegant decor and exciting
ambience, tempts you to test your skill. A stroll on deck kindles your
love of the sea. And The Observation Lounge, high atop the ship, invites
you to sit and gaze at the stars. Memories are made from evenings like
this.

Silversea Plus
Not only are we able to offer you these Silversea
Cruises at very competitive prices, but our special "Silversea Plus" rates
also include an additional pre-cruise or post-cruise 3 night package,
at no additional charge.
