ROCKIES RAIL & DRIVE

 

 

 

 

 

 

Combine a self drive tour through the Rockies with a trip on board the popular Rocky Mountaineer. This is the perfect tour for those with limited time, or alternatively ideal for combining with another tour.

Day 1 - Calgary to Banff (72 miles)
Upon arrival into Calgary, collect your rental car and begin your Rockies adventure. Take the short (2-hour) drive from Calgary to Banff on either the Trans-Canada Highway or the more scenic 1A Highway. Once in Banff proceed to your selected hotel to check in and the remainder of the day is yours to explore at your own leisure. Overnight in Banff.

Day 2 - Banff
Today is free to explore Banff and area. In town you’ll find lots of excitement - shopping, cafés, nightlife, museums. Check out the Cave and Basin National Historic Site, Banff Gondola (included) where you will see a panoramic view of the Bow Valley, and then take a dip in the hot mineral pools at the Upper Hot Springs. Overnight in Banff. .

Day 3 - Banff to Lake Louise (38 miles)
Depart Banff today and travel along the lovely Bow Valley Parkway on a leisurely drive. The Bow Valley Parkway between Banff and Lake Louise is a low-speed, two-lane undivided roadway with numerous scenic outlooks and pullouts. Be sure to stop for a quick nature walk at Johnston Canyon, where you can stand in the spray of a roaring mountain waterfall. Continue on to the “Jewel of the Rockies,” Lake Louise. Lake Louise is the most famous glacial lake in the Canadian Rockies, and one of the most beautiful in the Western Hemisphere. Overnight in Lake Louise.

Day 4 - Lake Louise to Jasper (129 miles)
Today, travel through the spine of the Canadian Rockies along the amazing Icefield Parkway. You’re sure to be enthralled by the scenery, wildlife and waterfalls enroute (Please note: Mountain lakes in this region will be frozen through to mid June). A stop at Peyto Lake along the way is a must. Don’t miss the Columbia Icefield for a ride onto the Athabasca Glacier on board an Ice Explorer (included) before continuing your journey to Jasper. Overnight in Jasper.

Day 5 - Jasper
A free day to explore this charming mountain village close to many terrific scenic highlights. Perhaps take a tram ride up Whistlers mountain, or visit Maligne Lake, one of the most photographed lakes in the world, and enjoy a 90 minute cruise heading toward the south end of this postcard setting (Maligne Lake cruise not included). Overnight in Jasper. .

Day 6 - Rocky Mountaineer Jasper to Kamloops
Return your car this morning (rental office is at the railway station). Then it’s aboard the Rocky Mountaineer for a journey past the sprawling grandeur of Mount Robson ‘the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies’ following the mighty Thompson River, the route of early fur traders towards Kamloops. Overnight in Kamloops. (Breakfast & Lunch is included today).

Day 7 - Rocky Mountaineer to Vancouver
Leaving Kamloops follow the Thompson River to the Fraser Canyon, where at Hells Gate watch water torrent past the canyon walls at its narrowest point. The last leg of the journey takes you through the fertile farming region of the Fraser Valley to arrive in the Pacific port of Vancouver late afternoon. Overnight in Vancouver. (Breakfast & Lunch is included today).

Day 8 - End Of Tour
Your tour ends with the check out from your hotel. Alternatively extend your stay to see more of Vancouver, add on another tour, or perhaps join an Alaska cruise.

Day 1 - Calgary
Arrive Calgary International Airport, collect your car and drive to your downtown hotel. The remainder of the day is free for you to explore this Stampede City. Overnight in Calgary

Day 2 - Calgary to Banff (72 mles)

Day 4 - Banff to Jasper (182 miles)
Take the short drive from Banff to Lake Louise. Choose the Bow Valley Parkway, beside the Bow River before continuing to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. From Lake Louise your scenic drive takes you through the spine of the Canadian Rockies. View a never-ending procession of mammoth mountains, jagged peaks, over 100 glaciers and pristine emerald coloured lakes. Along the way see such sights as Peyto Lake, Bow Lake, with the Bow Glacier providing the backdrop, and Crowfoot Glacier before your arrival at the Columbia Icefield for a snocoach ride out onto the glacier (Included). Leaving the Athabasca Glacier, your camera should be ready to capture the majesty of the Athabasca Falls prior to your arrival into Jasper. Overnight in Jasper.

Day 5 - Jasper (Free Day)
Explore this charming mountain village close to many terrific scenic highlights. Perhaps take a tram ride up Whistlers mountain, or visit Maligne Lake, one of the most photographed lakes in the world, and enjoy a 90 minute cruise heading toward the south end of this postcard setting (Maligne Lake cruise not included). You will marvel at the magnificent shoreline with dense forest and glacial peaks rising abruptly from the water’s edge. Stopping at Spirit Island, you will have the opportunity to take your own version of the world famous photograph of the lake. Overnight in Jasper.

Day 6 - Jasper to Wells Gray Park (197 miles)
Set out for Wells Gray Provincial Park along the scenic Yellowhead Highway and take in the breathtaking vistas of the steep-walled gorges and crashing falls of the North Thompson River. Overnight in Clearwater

Day 7 - Wells Gray Park to Whistler (261 miles)
Begin the day travelling via 100 Mile House to the gold rush town of Cache Creek, where you stop to visit the historic Hat Creek Ranch (included), which literally takes you back to the days of the gold rush. Continue the journey south to Lillooet, known as the land of the Gold Rush Trail and was ‘Mile Zero’ of the Old Caribou Wagon Road during the Gold Rush Years. Now the area is home to the largest Canadian producers of the medicinal plant, Ginseng. Departing Lillooet travel the Duffey Lake Road to Whistler. On the upper elevations of the Duffey Lake Road enjoy breath-taking views of snow capped mountains. Continue on through the mountain village of Whistler for a 2 night stay.

Day 8 - Whistler (Free Day)
This charming alpine resort is nestled between world-renowned Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. Enjoy an extensive range of summer activities from golf on one of the 4 championship designer golf courses, water activities on any of the 5 lakes or numerous rivers, to mountain top dining or just relax and enjoy some of the many fine café’s and restaurants of this European inspired alpine village. A gondola ride is included to the top of Whistler or Blackcomb Mountain. Overnight in Whistler.

Day 9 - Whistler to Nanaimo (67 miles + ferry)
Depart Whistler along the scenic Sea to Sky Highway to Horseshoe Bay. Highlights along the way include the cascading Shannon Falls. At Horseshoe Bay board a ferry to Vancouver Island (ferry costs are included). This scenic cruise takes you through fjord like waters with mountains blanketed with virgin forests and glaciated peaks. Overnight in Nanaimo

Day 10 - Nanaimo to Victoria (72 miles)
From Nanaimo head south to Victoria. En-route stops should be made at the artist community of Chemainus, where you can admire the giant murals which adorn the exterior walls throughout the town and Duncan the “City of Totems”. Here visit the Cowichan Native Village which provides you with an insight into the lives of the northwest coast people (Admission Included). Overnight in Victoria

Day 11 - Victoria (Free Day)
Today is free to explore Victoria, with its turn of the century architecture, British traditions such as high tea and shops full of woollens and china. Admission is included to the Butchart Gardens with it’s 50 acre display of magnificent colour. Overnight in Victoria.

Day 12 - Victoria to Vancouver (43 miles + Ferry)
Leaving Victoria drive north to Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal for a 90 min Ferry ride to the port of Tsawwassen (Ferry costs are included) On board BC ferries enjoy the scenery of the Gulf Islands as you cross the Strait of Georgia. From Tsawwassen continue on to downtown Vancouver. Overnight in Vancouver.

Day 13 - End of Tour
Today, experience Grouse Mountain Skyride (included) and Capilano Canyon and Suspension Bridge (included) at your own leisure. Be sure to see such sights as, Chinatown, Historical Gastown, the markets of Granville Island, and the famous shopping district of Robson Street. Overnight in Vancouver.

Day 1 - Arrive Vancouver

Day 2 - Vancouver - Free Day
Today is a free day to enjoy the sights of the city. We highly recommend taking the Grouse Mountain & Capilano Suspension Bridge Tour which take will take you from sea level to 4,100 feet above Vancouver on the Grouse Mountain Skyride for breathtaking views of the city, the ocean and surrounding mountains. Day 3 - Vancouver to Victoria with Butchart Gardens
Depart Vancouver this morning on a sightseeing tour to Victoria. Cruise across Georgia Strait through the beautiful Gulf Islands. Arriving on Vancouver Island, tour the Butchart Gardens (admission included). A two-hour stop allows time to enjoy these magnificent gardens. Tour scenic Ocean Drive, Uplands, Oak Bay, University of Victoria as well as the Victoria City Tour before being taken to your hotel. Overnight in Victoria.

Day 4 - Victoria - Whale Watching
This morning depart on a exhilarating round trip of 50 to 80 kilometres aboard the Orca Spirit, a 50 foot, 45 passenger covered boat, in search of orcas, minke whales, grey whales, porpoises, harbour seals and other marine wildlife. Day 5 - Victoria to Vancouver (Floatplane*)
Midday depart Victoria Harbour by seaplane for an unforgettable trip over the Gulf Islands and into downtown Vancouver's Coal Harbour, upon arrival Harbour Air will transfer you to your downtown hotel. Overnight in Vancouver.

Depart Vancouver on board the Whistler Mountaineer rail service along the scenic Sea to Sky Highway to Whistler; enjoy panoramic vistas of the Howe Sound and the Coastal Mountain Range. Day 8 - Rocky Mountaineer Whistler to Quesnel
Early this morning depart on the Rocky Mountaineer train through Caribou Country to Quesnel. This rail journey takes you along the historic Caribou Goldrush Trail. Highlights along the way include towering views of the Fraser Canyon, Anderson & Seton Lakes. Upon arrival into Quesnel you will be transferred to your overnight accommodation. (Breakfast & Lunch is included today.

Day 9 - Rocky Mountaineer Quesnel to Jasper
This morning, re-board the Rocky Mountaineer Train for your continuing journey to Jasper. Your route today follows the famous Fraser River. Keep your eyes open for grizzly, moose, beaver and osprey! You will pass Mount Robson, (3,954 metres), the Rockies’ highest peak. Crossing into the province of Alberta, you will arrive by late afternoon in the peaceful alpine town of Jasper. Day 10 - Jasper (free day)
This morning return to the Hertz Depot (transfer included) to collect your rental car. Day 11 - Jasper to Lake Louise (130 miles)
This morning depart on the scenic drive that takes you through the spine of the Canadian Rockies. Along the way see such sights as the Columbia Icefield and take an Ice Explorer ride out onto the glacier (included). Also watch for the Sarbach Glacier, Peyto Lake, Bow Lake, with the Bow Glacier providing the backdrop, and Crowfoot Glacier before your arrival into Lake Louise. Day 12 - Lake Louise to Emerald Lake (40 miles)
A short drive today through Majestic Mountain passes into Yoho National Park. This 1313 sq. km (507 sq. miles) National Park is filled with gem coloured glacial lakes and waterfalls, snow-covered peaks and dense forests of western red cedar and western hemlock. Overnight at Emerald Lake Lodge. Emerald Lake Lodge is built of hand-hewn timber and featuring massive stone fireplaces is located on the shores of Emerald. Day 13 - Emerald Lake to Banff (70 miles)
Enjoy the leisurely drive from Field and Lake Louise to Banff. At Lake Louise take the lovely Bow Valley Parkway, is a low-speed, two-lane undivided roadway with numerous scenic outlooks and pullouts. Be sure to stop for a quick nature walk at Johnston Canyon, where you can stand in the spray of a roaring mountain waterfall. This rest of the day is free to explore Banff and area. Day 14 - Banff (free day)

Drive to Calgary today, along the 1A Highway. En route, you may wish to stop at the historic Cochrane Ranch (not included) before dropping off your rental car at the Calgary International Airport or downtown location, where your tour comes to an end.

Depart Parksville for Tofino on the rugged West Coast. En-route, picture stops should be made at Cathedral Grove to enjoy the splendour of 800 year old Douglas Fir and Cedar. Arrive in Tofino for a 2 night stay.

Day 10 -Tofino
The morning is free to explore Tofino and Pacific Rim National Park. You may wish to walk along the famed Long Beach, with its miles of pristine sandy beach and pounding surf, or explore the rain forests on a selection of well groomed trails. Mid afternoon enjoy a 3 hour whale watch cruise (included) through the Clayoquot Sound, revealing sensational scenery and wildlife such as Gray Whales, Sea Lions, Porpoises and Killer Whales. The area is also known for its variety of birds, including tufted puffins and resident bald eagles

Day 11 - Tofino to Victoria (195 miles)
Travel back to the East Coast of Vancouver Island and head south to Victoria. Day 1 - Calgary to Banff (75 miles)
Upon arrival into Calgary, pick up your rental car and begin your Rockies adventure. Take the short (2-hour) drive from Calgary to Banff on either the Trans-Canada Highway or the more scenic 1A Highway. Once in Banff proceed to your hotel to check in and the remainder of the day is yours to explore at your own leisure. Check in for two nights at Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel.

Day 2 - Banff - Free Day
A full day to explore Banff and area. In town you’ll find lots of excitement - shopping, cafés, nightlife, museums. Check out the Cave and Basin National Historic Site, Banff Gondola (included) where you will see a panoramic view of the Bow Valley, and then take a dip in the hot mineral pools at the Upper Hot Springs.

Day 3 - Banff to Emerald Lake Lodge (70 miles)
Depart Banff today and travel along the lovely Bow Valley Parkway for a leisurely drive. Journey past the “Jewel of the Rockies,” Lake Louise through majestic mountain passes into Yoho National Park, a 1313 sq. km (507 sq. miles) National Park filled with gem coloured glacial lakes and waterfalls, snow-covered peaks and dense. Your overnight accommodation is at Emerald Lake Lodge, built of hand-hewn timber and featuring massive stone fireplaces is located on the shores of Emerald Lake.

Day 4 - Banff to Jasper (182 miles)
Return back through Scenic Mountain passes to Lake Louise, the most famous glacial lake in the Canadian Rockies and one of the most beautiful in the Western Hemisphere. You may wish to enjoy a hike on one of the numerous trails around the lake or paddle a canoe. Your accommodation tonight is in a Lake View room at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.

Day 5 - Lake Louise to Jasper (130 miles)
Today, travel through the spine of the Canadian Rockies along the amazing Icefield Parkway. You’re sure to be enthralled by the scenery, wildlife, incredible blue lakes and sparkling waterfalls en route (Please note: Mountain lakes in this region will be frozen through to mid June). A stop at Peyto Lake along the way is a must. Don’t miss the Columbia Icefield for a ride onto the Athabasca Glacier on board an Ice Explorer (included) before continuing your journey to Jasper. Your next three nights are at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge.

Day 6 - Jasper - Free Day
A free day to explore this charming mountain village close to many terrific scenic highlights. Take a tram ride up Whistlers mountain, or visit Maligne Lake, one of the most photographed lakes in the world, and enjoy a 90 minute cruise heading toward the south end of this postcard setting (Maligne Lake cruise not included).

Day 7 - Jasper - Free Day
Another free day to enjoy the amenities of the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge..

Day 8 - Rocky Mountaineer Jasper to Kamloops (Goldleaf service)
This morning drop your rental vehicle off at the Rocky Mountaineer rail station before boarding the Rocky Mountaineer for a scenic rail journey to Kamloops in the interior of British Columbia. Leaving Jasper National Park, travel the ‘Yellowhead’ route past the sprawling grandeur of Mount Robson ‘the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies’ and follow the mighty Thompson River, the route of early fur traders, before arriving in Kamloops. (Breakfast & Lunch is included today) Overnight in a Kamloops hotel*.

Day 9 - Rocky Mountaineer Kamloops to Vancouver (Goldleaf service)
Leaving Kamloops follow the Thompson River, pass through Rainbow Canyon and Fraser Canyon, where at Hells Gate watch water torrent past the canyon walls at its narrowest point. The last leg of the journey takes you through the fertile farming region of the Fraser Valley to arrive in the Pacific port of Vancouver late afternoon. (Breakfast & Lunch is included today). Check in for a 4 night stay at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel.

Day 10 - Vancouver (free day)
Today is a free day to enjoy the sights of the city. We highly recommend taking the Grouse Mountain & Capilano Suspension Bridge Tour which take will take you from sea level to 4,100 feet above Vancouver on the Grouse Mountain Skyride for breathtaking views of the city, the ocean and surrounding mountains. The tour also includes a visit the Grizzly Bear & Grey Wolf Refuge and Capilano Suspension Bridge and Treetops Adventure (see page 54 for tour details & costs). Overnight in Vancouver

Day 11 - Victoria day Excursion (by floatplane)
Depart Vancouver harbour by seaplane for an exciting flight over the Gulf Islands to beautiful Victoria. The day is free to explore Victoria, with its turn of the century architecture, British traditions such as high tea and shops full of woolens and china. Optional tours while in Victoria include Whale Watching, Butchart Gardens or enjoy high tea at the Fairmont Empress Hotel Lobby. Return to Vancouver on a scheduled afternoon flight..

Enjoy two whale watching excursions in Victoria & Tofino, explore Vancouver Island before taking a floatplane ride to the unique Knight Inlet Lodge. Day 1 - Arrive Vancouver
Arrive in Vancouver, collect your car and transfer to your downtown hotel. After checking in, the rest of the day is free to explore this lovely city. Overnight at the Best Western Vancouver Downtown (Pacific Palisades).

Day 2 - Vancouver to Victoria (45 miles + ferry)
Drive to the BC ferries terminal and board the ferry to cross the Strait of Georgia to Vancouver Island. On arrival continue your drive down the Saanich Peninsula to Victoria, the capital of British Columbia. This afternoon you will board a Zodiac* powerboat in search of orca, minke and grey whales, seals and other marine wildlife. Day 3 - Victoria to Tofino (200 miles)
Your drive today leads you across Vancouver Island to the Pacific Coast winding through ancient rainforests and provincial parks. You’re venturing into true wildlife territory here – the Pacific Rim National Park is a marvel of ecological and geographical diversity. Overnight in Tofino at the Schooner Motel (Best Western Tin Wis Resort)..

Day 4 - Tofino
Today you will take part in your second thrilling whale watching expedition by Zodiac* boat. Your search today is in Clayoquot Sound for the Pacific Grey whale, sea lions and puffins. Back on dry land, you’re free to explore the rugged coastline along the network of hiking trails or to walk the shoreline of Long Beach in search of shells and driftwood. Overnight in Tofino at the Schooner Motel (Best Western Tin Wis Resort).

Day 5 - Tofino to Campbell River (180 miles)
This morning, the spectacular winding road takes you back to the eastern coast of Vancouver Island and the quaint coastal town of Campbell River. Overnight in Campbell River at the Heron’s Landing Hotel.

Day 6 - Campbell River
Today is free for you to explore the area. Campbell River is the gateway to Strathcona National Park, the oldest park in British Columbia and home to the highest waterfall in Canada, the 440 metre high Delta Falls. Overnight in Campbell River at the Heron’s Landing Hotel.

Day 7 - Campbell River to Knight Inlet
Today’s destination, Knight Inlet Lodge, is not accessible by road, so you’ll fly in by floatplane from Campbell River. A thrilling 30 minute flight brings you to the mouth of the Glendale River where Knight Inlet Lodge floats on large cedar booms. Bring your camera – you’ll be going on a bearwatching and wildlife viewing tour in search of the grizzly bears that frequent this area. Overnight at Knight Inlet Lodge (lunch and dinner is included).

Day 8 - Knight Inlet to Vancouver (100 miles + ferry)
Return to Campbell River this morning by floatplane, collect your car and begin your journey back to Vancouver. At Nanaimo board your ferry back to the mainland. Overnight in Vancouver at the Best Western Vancouver Downtown (Pacific Palisades).

Day 9 - End of Tour
Return to Vancouver International Airport in time to check in for your return or onwards flight.

Day 5 - Revelstoke To Banff (157 miles)
Drive through Glacier National Park and Rogers Pass en route to the Canadian Rockies. Yoho National Park marks the provincial border and meets Canada’s first national park here. Kicking Horse Pass is sure to be a scenic highlight of the park. Before you continue on to the bustling resort town of Banff, we suggest a visit to Lake Louise. Day 7 - Banff to Jasper (180 miles)
Drive to Jasper via the spectacular Icefields Parkway. Along the way we suggest a stop at Peyto Lake and the Columbia Icefield. Covering an expanse of 325 sq. km and reaching depths of up to 320 m, this impressive icefield forms one of the largest masses of ice south of the Arctic Circle. Day 10 - Prince George to Smithers (230 miles)
Your journey continues along the rugged wilderness terrain of the interior mountain ranges. Overnight in Smithers at the Hudson Bay Lodge or similar. .

Day 11 - Smithers to Prince Rupert (220 miles)
Follow the scenic Skeena River Valley to the active port city of Prince Rupert. Overnight in Prince Rupert at the Coast Prince Rupert Hotel or similar.

Day 12 - Prince Rupert to Port Hardy (ferry)
Enjoy a full-day ocean cruise on board B.C. Ferries along the British Columbia coastline. During your full day cruise you will be see some wonderful sights, snowcapped peaks, forested hillsides, bald eagles, deep fjords and sheltered villages.The famous Inside Passage cruise terminates in Port Hardy where you stay overnight at the Port Hardy Inn or similar. Collect your car this morning and depart Vancouver on the short drive along the spectacular Sea to Sky highway to Horseshoe Bay. If time allows take the scenic route around Stanley Park with a photo stop at the Totem Poles. At Horseshoe Bay board a ferry for the 1 hr 45 min sailing to Vancouver Island (ferry costs are included). This scenic cruise takes you through fjord like waters with mountains blanketed with virgin forests and glaciated peaks. Overnight in Parksville

Day 4 - Parksville to Tofino (140 miles)
Today head west towards the Pacific Ocean. Your journey takes you through Cathedral Grove, a preserved rainforest where you can see spectacular stands of old-growth cedar, hemlock and Douglas fir trees. Your home for the next 3 nights is on the edge of the Pacific Rim National Park and the villages of Tofino or Ucluelet.

Day 5 - Tofino - Bear Viewing Cruise
A free morning, perhaps to walk along the famed Long Beach, with its miles of pristine sandy beach. Mid afternoon join a 2½ hour cruise along the shores and fjord inlets of Clayoquot Sound looking for black bears (tour operates May – Sep). During the winter, local black bears are in semi-hibernation, then come May, they leave their dens and head for the closest food source - the ocean! While the bears forage in the intertidal zone, you can unobtrusively observe and photograph their behaviour.

Day 6 - Tofino (Free Day)
Another full day to explore Pacific Rim National Park and the surrounding area.

Day 7 - Tofino to Victoria (199 miles)
Travel back to the East Coast of Vancouver Island and head south to Victoria. En-route stops should be made at the artist community of Chemainus, where you can admire the giant murals which adorn the exterior walls throughout the town and Duncan the “City of Totems”. Here visit the Cowichan Native Village which provides you with an insight into the lives of the northwest coast people (admission included). Victoria is your home for the next 2 nights

Day 8 - Victoria Sightseeing & Whale Watching
This morning board the Orca Spirit a 50 foot, 45 passenger covered boat for an exhilarating trip in search of orcas, minke whales, grey whales, porpoises, harbour seals and other marine wildlife. This afternoon is free to explore Victoria. Admission is included to the Butchart Gardens with its 50 acre display of magnificent colour.

Day 9 - Victoria to Vancouver (45 miles + ferry)
Leaving Victoria drive north to Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal for a 90 min ferry ride. Once onboard enjoy the scenery of the Gulf Islands as you cross the Strait of Georgia. From Tsawwassen continue on to downtown Vancouver for your final night stay.

Your journey begins as you travel north from Vancouver to the West Coast Wilderness Lodge Resort, an undiscovered jewel on the west coast of Canada, with spectacular views of the Pacific Coast. After two nights here, continue your exploration as you travel first to Quadra Island & then onto Vancouver Island. Your tour offers opportunities to search for the wildlife that abounds in the area as well as plenty of free time to relax and enjoy the natural settings.

Day 1 - Arrive Vancouver
Arrive Vancouver and make your way to your overnight hotel. After checking in the remainder of the day is at leisure. Overnight at the Pacific Palisades

Day 2 - Vancouver (Free Day)
A free day to explore Vancouver. Overnight at the Pacific Palisades.

Day 3 - Vancouver to Sunshine Coast (64 miles + ferry)
Collect your car this morning and drive north to Horseshoe Bay where you board a BC Ferry for a 45 minute sailing to the Sunshine Coast (ferry costs included). This scenic cruise takes you through fjord like waters with mountains blanketed with virgin forests and glaciated peaks. At Langdale disembark the ferry and drive the leisurely and stunningly scenic route through virgin forests and coastal fishing villages to your overnight accommodation at the West Coast Wilderness Lodge.

Day 4 - West Coast Wildness Lodge (free day)
A free day to enjoy the beautiful natural landscape of Canada’s Pacific Coast or to take part in a variety of outdoor adventures. The lodges well-trained guides will assist in providing an unforgettable recreational experience or otherwise just sit back, relax and enjoy the coast. Overnight at the West Coast Wilderness Lodge

Day 5 - Sunshine Coast to Quadra Island (47 miles + ferry)
Today, travel north to Earls Cove for a 50 minutes BC Ferry ride (included) to Saltery Bay, continue following the coast to Powell River to board another BC Ferry service (ferry toll included) across the strait of Georgia to Vancouver Island. Continue north to Campbell River and your destination Quadra Island. Overnight at the April Point Resort..

Day 6 - Eco Wilderness Cruise into Desolation Sound
Today an included excursion will take you in search of the wildlife that abound in the area. Board a Zodiac boat* to cruise through breathtaking Desolation Sound and enjoy the majesty of Toba Inlet to seek out Black Bears in their natural habitat. Overnight at the April Point Resort..

Day 7 - Quadra Island to Tofino (140 miles + ferry)
Depart Quadra Island on a short BC Ferry ride (included) to Vancouver Island and to Tofino on the rugged West Coast. En-route, picture stops should be made at Cathedral Grove to enjoy the splendour of 800 year old Douglas Fir and Cedar. Continue your drive through the majestic Sutton Pass and the Sawtooth Range of the Cascade Mountains to arrive in Tofino around mid afternoon. Overnight at the Best Western Tin Wis Resort.

Day 8 - Tofino (Pacific Rim National Park)
Enjoy a free morning to relax or explore. You may wish to walk along the famed Long Beach, with its miles of pristine sandy beach and pounding surf, or explore the rain forests on a selection of well groomed trails. Mid afternoon you will enjoy a 3 hour whale watch cruise through the Clayoquot Sound, revealing sensational scenery, and wildlife such as Gray Whales, Sea Lions, Porpoises and Killer Whales. The area is also known for its variety of birds, including tufted puffins and resident bald eagles. Overnight at the Best Western Tin Wis Resort.

Day 9 - Tofino to Victoria (195 miles)
Travel back to the East Coast of Vancouver Island and head south to Victoria. En-route stops should be made at the artist community of Chemainus, where you can admire the giant murals which adorn the exterior walls throughout the town and Duncan the “City of Totems”. Here visit the Cowichan Native Village which provides you with an insight into the lives of the northwest coast people (admission included). Overnight at the Queen Victoria Hotel.

Day 10 - Victoria (Free day)
Today is free to explore Victoria, with its turn of the century architecture, British traditions such as high tea and shops full of woolens and china. Admission is (included) to the Butchart Gardens with it’s 50 acre display of magnificent colour. Overnight at the Queen Victoria Hotel.

Day 11 - Victoria to Vancouver (43 miles + ferry)
Leaving Victoria drive north to Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal for a 90 minute ferry ride (ferry costs included) back to the mainland. On board your BC Ferry enjoy the scenery of the Gulf Islands as you cross the Strait of Georgia. After arriving at the port of Tsawwassen continue on to downtown Vancouver for your final nights stay. Overnight at the Pacific Palisades Hotel.

Day 12 - End of Tour
Your tour ends with the check out from your hotel and the return of your car to the airport rental office.
