RENTAL INFORMATION 2008
Rental Locations
Anchorage*, Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, Whitehorse*, Halifax
*(Location open summer months only - May to Mid October)
Rental stations are open Monday to Saturday, no pick-ups are allowed on a Sunday or on Public Bank Holidays (unless the Early Birder option is purchased - see below for details). No returns permitted on Sundays or Holidays.
Driver Requirements
The minimum age is 21 years. There is no charge for ‘extra drivers’ but all must possess a full and valid UK drivers License, a passport and all must be present at pick up to sign the rental contract. A valid major credit card is also required.
Arrival
Day
Motorhome companies insist that you spend your first night in North America at a hotel located near the airport in your pick-up city. We recommend you allow us to book your hotel when we reserve your motorhome.
Collecting
your vehicle
You may collect your vehicle between 1pm & 4pm (or earlier if you choose the Early Birders option see below).
On the day of your pick up you must telephone the rental station in the morning to arrange your vehicle pick up time (which will be between 1pm & 4pm). Arrivals at the rental station without prior notice may result in departure delays, for which Cruise Canada accepts no responsibility. A 30-minute to one-hour tour of the operations of your vehicle will be given prior to your leaving the rental station.
Transfers to the Rental Station are not included in your pre-paid costs unless you choose the Early Birders option.
Returning your vehicle
You must return your vehicle between 9am & 11am (or by 3pm if you take the Early Birders option). A fee will be charged for each hour after 11am should the vehicle be returned late. The vehicle must be returned in the same condition that it was received excluding normal wear and tear. Transfers from the rental station to your airport are not included.
Early Birder Option
The Early Birder Option allows you to collect your vehicle from 9.00am and return it by 3pm, giving you upto eight hours extra rental time. Transfers to the rental station from pre-advised designated hotels in designated areas (airport hotels) are also included for all your party. To arrange your transfer you must call the rental station the day prior or early on the morning of your pick up (call from 8.30am), transfers will commence at 9.00am. (Please note: transfers will not be arranged for calls received after 11am).
The cost of this option varies dependent upon the day of your pick-up
Tues, Weds or Thurs: £99 per vehicle
Mon, Fri or Sat: £209 per vehicle (also weekdays following a holiday)
Sun (colections only - no returns as normally closed): £415 per vehicle
Taxes
All taxes are included on all pre-paid items.
Any items which have not been pre-paid (eg. one way rental fees) will be subject to applicable taxes which must be paid locally. When comparing prices please check that taxes are included.
One Way Rentals
Any one way rental to/from Anchorage (US Dollars) US$750
Any one way rental to Vancouver CA$750
Any rentals from Toronto or Montreal to Calgary CA$500
Any rental to or from Whitehorse CA$750
Any rental to or from Halifax CA$750
Please call for other one-way rental costs.
One way rentals between Canada & U.S.A. are not permitted.
Security Deposit
You will be asked to leave a $500 security deposit at pick up (payable by credit card.) On returning the vehicle any extra charges incurred will be balanced against the deposit and a refund (if applicable) will be issued.
Restricted areas
Alaska, Yukon, Newfoundland & Northwest Territories
Travel is permitted in these areas, however there are restrictions on certain roads. Please ask for details.
USA
There are certain restrictions on several areas in America including New York and Manhattan. If you are intending to cross the border with your motorhome, please ask for restriction details.
Any violations to the restricted areas will result in any insurance becoming null and void. The driver will be held liable for all damages and expenses relating to the use of the vehicle in these areas.
Logging & Non-Public Roads
Vehicles are not allowed on "logging" or other non-public roads.
Ferry Restrictions
Vehicles can be transported by ferry. We advise that you reserve space for a minimum of a 30-foot vehicle to avoid problems due to space on the ferry.
Parking / Traffic Violations
You are responsible for reporting and payment of all parking & traffic violations when returning your vehicle. Your credit card will be charged for any charges/fines/penalties issued to Cruise Canada in addition to an administrative fee of upto $250 as a result of you not reporting a parking/traffic violation.
Personal Kits - optional
Each personal kit contains a sleeping bag, pillow, sheet, pillowcase, tea towel, bath towel etc. The cost is $50 per person or included if you take our all-inclusive option.
Vehicle Kits
Each kit provides pots, pans, kettle, cooking utensils, flashlight, plates, cups, glasses, utensils, bottle opener, etc. Cost is $100 per vehicle or included if you take our all-inclusive option.
Child Seats
These are not provided by Cruise Canada, you must provide your own for the period of your rental..
Campgrounds
If you have any concerns about where to stay overnight, call Kampgrounds
of America here in the UK on 01444 233289. They will send you all the
information and give advice about routes and distances.
Insurance
Insurance has been simplified without reducing any of your benefits. All insurance costs are now included in your rental costs, giving you peace of mind and removing the need to decide which level of insurance to take.
Auto Liability
Cruise Canada maintains liability protection coverage on all its rental vehicles to a minimum of $10,000,000 (CDN) against claims of bodily injury and property damage brought against the company as a result of the operation or use of its vehicles. This covers Cruise Canada as a company only.
The company also provides Auto Liability coverage for all clients on a secondary basis for bodily injury, property damage and personal injury protection (PIP) as required by the financial responsibility laws of the state or province in which an accident may occur, for claims made against the client and/or authorised drivers. The liability coverage is void if the rental vehicle is not operated safely in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and in compliance with all terms and conditions of the Rental Agreement.
Damage Responsibility
As a result of including insurance in the pre-paid rate Cruise Canada have vastly improved both the coverage and the simplicity of the transaction. You are only responsible for up to $500 for vehicle loss or damage per occurrence provided you abide by the Terms & Conditions of The Rental Agreement, report promptly in case of an accident or vehicle damage, and avoid prohibited uses |
