INDEPENDENT TRAVEL

Independent Travel and pre-planned Independent Tours are becoming an increasingly popular way to travel throughout Canada. Independence can mean anything from car rental, a city stopover break or staying on a ranch or in spa resort to an across Canada train journey, cruising up the St.Lawrence River or spending each night at a different hotel or lodge and "doing-your-own-thing" each day. The possibilities and choices are endless

The natural inclination for most independent travellers is not to plan or book too far ahead and therefore a word of caution is due. Our experience has shown that visitors to Canada who intend to do everything "on-the-spot" can, and often do, find themselves out of luck with accommodation in such places as the National Parks and many big cities during high season. Therefore, the more prudent approach is to have the key elements of your holiday reserved well in advance, so that there are no uncomfortable nights spent in the car and by doing so you can save yourself a lot of time, money and disappointment too.

All the elements that can be pre-booked as Independent units, such as accommodation, cars and motorhomes, rail or bus travel and transfers etc., can be found in the "Transportation" and "Accommodation" parts of this section.

In the "Independent Touring" part of this sections there are a number of tours included that have been pre-arranged, using independent elements under "Pre-Planned Tours." Then a full variety of "Mini-Breaks" from City Stopovers to Resort Stays along with a multitude of full and half day "Sightseeing opportunities in every region plus a selection "Cruising" possibilities on along either coast of the country.
