Day 1  Adelaide to Kangaroo Island

Depart from Adelaide Airport at 8.45am for a flight (not private, regular service) to Kangaroo Island. On arrival, join a full day tour of the island, home to an amazing variety of Australian wildlife. Seals basking on quiet beaches, koalas perched in gum trees, echidnas waddling along with their distinctive gait, or goannas, wallabies, penguins and native birds. Kangaroos are a part of the landscape as they go about their daily life. Overnight at either the Wanderers Rest, a small, four star, country guest house offering old fashioned hospitality, or at Correa Corner, a charming, spacious home with elegant suites set in a pleasant mix of formal & native gardens on the shores of Nepean Bay. Meals included: dinner.

 

Day 2  Kangaroo Island

Enjoy a second day of touring. Sights today may include Rocky River, Admirals Arch, an ancient limestone formation close to the ocean, Remarkable Rocks and a short bush walk to seek the animals in their natural; habitat. Enjoy a second night with dinner at your accommodation. Meals included: breakfast & dinner.

 

Day 3  Kangaroo Island to Gawler Ranges

After breakfast, be ready for a 9am private transfer to meet your private pilot/guide for your 1½ hour flight to Gawler Ranges. On arrival, transfer to a 4WD for a shared small-group tour (max 6 pax) of the Gawler Ranges, led by a local, experienced guide. The Gawler Ranges, 600 kilometres to the North West of Adelaide on the Eyre Peninsula, is Outback Australia at its best. The diverse terrain changes from arid to semi-desert, while the age old volcanic landscapes offer spectacular gorges and weathered rocky outcrops. Your tour visits the organ pipes rock formations at Kolay, Micra Falls, Nukey Valley and the remote part of the park. This is the best wildlife opportunity and the landscapes are stunning and colourful. Late afternoon may include a walk on the Corrobinnie Depression and marvel at the array of colour and patterns in the bed of an old river Your accommodation is in a large 7 x 5 metre luxury safari tents. Each have two bedrooms, one with a queen bed, and the second with two single beds. Each tent also includes a private shower and flush toilet. Guests dine together at Kangaluna Camp in the dining hut, with complimentary drinks. The Camp is situated in a beautiful bush setting, with abundant wildlife. Evening activities can be a short walk to enjoy the wildlife, or sitting around a campfire watching the stars come out in the velvety blackness of the sky. Meals included: breakfast, lunch & dinner.

 

Day 4  Gawler Ranges

After a leisurely start to the morning, enjoy a morning drive to spectacular Lake Gairdner, which is like a piece of Antarctica, with its glistening white salt pan set in the red landscape. Here walk through the bush looking for some of the 146 species of birds recorded in the region. Today you may see wedge tailed eagles, cigar shaped volcanic rock formations 1500 million years old, and lots of wildlife. During the afternoon, enjoy the changing landscape. Emus and Red, Western Grey and Euro kangaroos may be seen on the drive through the ancient outback range to Kangaluna Camp. Sunset drinks allow a relaxing finish to the day. Meals included: breakfast, lunch & dinner.

 

Day 5  Western Eyre Peninsula, including Baird Bay

After breakfast, spend the morning swimming with wild dolphins and sea-lions on a shared eco-experience. This involves a short boat ride on the protected waters of Baird Bay. The Sea Lion and Dolphin swims are fully supervised. Please advise your guide if you don't feel confident in the water. Masks, wetsuits, and snorkels are supplied. Spend the rest of the day exploring the Eyre Peninsula coastline, with a local, knowledgeable guide. A picnic lunch is included. At approx 6pm board your private flight for the 40 minute journey to Adelaide, where your tour ends on arrival.

Day 4 - Dolphin/Sea-Lion swim not available from 1 June to 31 August.

A 4WD tour to the less-visited areas of the Gawler Ranges will be included at other times.

All flights and touring can be upgraded to private tours / charter flights (at additional expense).
