From here, board a coach bound for Coffs Harbour on the New South Wales Central Coast. As you journey along the coast admire the golden beaches that stretch on for miles and the stunning turquoise waters stretching out to the horizon. On arrival in Coffs Harbour this evening, settle in to your hotel, then gather for a Welcome Dinner & Drinks - the perfect opportunity to get to know your Tour Director and fellow travellers. Overnight at Coffs Harbour at the Novotel Pacific Bay Resort. Meals included: dinner.
Day 2 Coffs Harbour to Brisbane
Visit bohemian Byron Bay with its artists' community and unspoilt beaches, making it a popular holiday spot with many Australians. It's also home to Cape Byron, the most easterly point of the Australian mainland. After some time here to explore, head for the beautiful Gold Coast where there is 35 miles of clear waters and fine golden sand. Then travel to Brisbane, located on the banks of the Brisbane River and the capital of Queensland, for a sightseeing tour. Brisbane's mix of old and new architecture, tropical climate and historical heritage gives it a laid-back appeal. Overnight in Brisbane at the Citigate King George Square. Meals included: breakfast.
Day 3 Brisbane to Fraser Island
Visit Australia Zoo this morning, made famous by the late Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin. Home to a large variety of local wildlife, the zoo's biggest attraction is, of course, crocodiles. Watch these animals feeding, lazing in the sun or 'having a go' at the keepers. Then pass the Sunshine Coast and join a cruise from Hervey Bay, a great place to see migrating whales (seasonal), to Fraser Island. Overnight on Fraser Island at the Kingfisher Bay Resort & Village. Meals included: breakfast & dinner.
Day 4 Fraser Island
Today you might like to rise early for an escorted birdwatching walk through native bushland (optional). Later, you have the choice of two touring activities - a 4WD drive adventure on the island or a Humpback whale watching cruise (Aug.-Oct.). Tonight, enjoy a Bush Tucker Talk before a delicious BBQ dinner including kangaroo, crocodile and prawns. Overnight on at the Kingfisher Bay Resort & Village. Meals included: breakfast & dinner.
Day 5 Fraser Island to Rockhampton
Say farewell to Fraser Island and travel to Rockhampton, where you'll visit the Botanic Gardens and Australia's longest National Trust-classified street, Quay Street. Overnight in Rockhampton at the Travelodge. Meals included: breakfast & dinner.
Day 6 Rockhampton to Hamilton Island
Visit Henderson Park Cattle Station to learn about the operation of a working cattle station. Then travel to Airlie Beach and cruise to Hamilton Island. Overnight at Hamilton Island Resort at the Reef View Hotel in guaranteed Coral View Rooms. Meals included: breakfast.
Day 7 Hamilton Island (free day)
Today is at leisure for you to relax and enjoy Hamilton Island. This evening, enjoy pre-dinner drinks before a Dine Around Dinner. Reef View Hotel in guaranteed Coral View Rooms. Meals included: breakfast & dinner.
Day 8 Hamilton Island to Dunk Island
Cruise back to the mainland and journey to Townsville, Australia's largest tropical city. From Mission Beach, cruise to Dunk Island, a tropical haven. Overnight at the Dunk Island Resort, Garden Rooms. Meals included: breakfast & dinner.
Day 9 Dunk Island (free day)
Today is yours to relax on Dunk Island. Explore the walking trails, watching for birdlife and native flowers, or utilise the amenities of the resort. The more adventurous might want to try parasailing, or go on a guided jet ski tour (own expense). Overnight at the Dunk Island Resort, Garden Rooms. Meals included: breakfast & dinner.
Day 10 Dunk Island to Port Douglas
Return to the mainland and tour the lush Atherton Tablelands. Join a wildlife cruise at Lake Barrine and visit Millaa Millaa Falls and the Curtain Fig Tree. Travel to tropical Port Douglas and choose from several dining options. Overnight in Port Douglas at the Rydges Sabaya Resort. Meals included: breakfast & dinner.
Day 11 Port Douglas to Cairns
Explore the Great Barrier Reef your way, with a choice of three Quicksilver cruises, all including a delicious lunch. After your cruise, travel to Cairns. Overnight at the Sebel Cairns Hotel. Meals included: breakfast & lunch.
Day 12 Cairns & Kuranda Tour
Journey aboard the Kuranda Scenic Railway up to Rainforestation and enjoy a performance by the Pamagirri Aboriginal Dancers. Later ride the Kuranda Skyrail Rainforest Cableway above the rainforest canopy. Tonight enjoy a Farewell Dinner & Drinks. Overnight at the Sebel Cairns Hotel. Meals included: breakfast & dinner.
