Rental Locations - Maui have branches in Adelaide, Alice Springs, Brisbane, Broome*, Cairns, Darwin, Hobart*, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney.

Rental offices are open from 7.30am to 4pm in peak season, 10am to 4pm in low season (high & low seasons vary according to location, details on request). All branches are closed on Christmas Day. Vehicles can be collected at any time during office hours, however all vehicles must be returned by 3.30pm.

*A remote location fee of $700 applies to all rentals to or from  Broome (one way fees are additional). An airport pick-up fee of AU$20 per hire will apply for hires with pick-up at Hobart airport. These fees are subject to change.

Transfers - Transfers to the rental locations are not included unless the Premium Package is taken (see Premium inclusions for details).

Rental Rates - Rentals are charged per calendar day. When calculating rates, the pick up date is counted as day one & the drop off day is counted as the final day. Vehicles must be collected and returned within office opening hours. Where a rental crosses from one date band into another, the calculation is based on the number of days in each relevant season.

Rental Period - Minimum rental period is 7 days (5 days for Ultima), except on rentals between 15 December & 05 January when the minimum period is 10 days (7 days for Ultima). One way rentals may be subject to longer minimum rental periods, see below. Minimum rental periods are subject to change during peak periods. Maximum rental period is 100 days. There are no refunds for early returns.

One Way Rentals - One way rentals are permitted between all locations. The standard minimum rental period is 7 days, however one way rentals between certain locations have longer minimum rental periods. A one-way fee of $280 applies on all rentals where pick up originates or returns to Cairns, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart or Adelaide. A one way fee of $380 applies where pick up originates or returns to Darwin, Broome, Alice Springs or Perth.

Eg Cairns to Darwin incurs a $380 fee. Cairns to Brisbane incurs a $280 fee. Our reservation staff will be pleased to advise the one way fee & minimum rental period for your chosen routing.

Driver Requirements - All drivers must be 21 years of age and hold a full driving licence. A current and full motor vehicle driver's licence is required and must be produced upon vehicle collection. Should a foreign licence be in a language other then English it must be accompanied by a current international driving permit issued in the same country as the driver's licence was issued. An accredited English translation will be accepted in lieu of an international driving permit.

Vehicle Insurance - All vehicles are insured for damage to the vehicle or to the property of a Third Party. The hirer is responsible for the first AU$7,500 ("the liability") of the cost of damage to Third Party property or to the rented vehicle, including single vehicle accident (does not include single vehicle roll over), windscreen and tyre damage, towing and recovery costs, theft, fire, break-in or vandalism with the exception of the 'exclusions'. This also includes the cost of the daily rental for the period the vehicle is off fleet for accident repairs. The liability is applicable regardless of who is at fault and must be paid at the time the accident report is completed, not at the completion of the rental. The liability will be refunded if maui is successful in recovering the cost of the damages from the Third Party.

Liability Reduction Option 1
For a fee of $29 per day (maximum charge $1450), your liability will be reduced to $2500. The liability applies in respect of each claim, not rental. Exclusions apply. Fee is payable direct to the rental location.

Liability Reduction Option 2
For a fee of $45 per day (maximum charge $2250), your liability will be reduced to NIL. When Liability Reduction Option 2 has been purchased, the hirer will have no liability at all with the exception of the 'exclusions'. When purchasing this option for a further fee of $89 per rental you will receive Additional Protection Coverage (APC)  which means the cost of damage resulting from a single vehicle roll over will be covered. Fees are payable direct to the rental location.

Please Note: Liability Reduction Option 2 is included in the Maui Premium Package. The APC is not included in the premium package

Insurance Exclusions - A list of exclusions will null & void all insurance coverage. These include, but are not limited to Overhead & underbody damage (unless Option 2 has been taken), damage due to overloading, water related damage (e.g. river/creek crossing, driving through floods, beach driving), personal belongings*, wilful damage, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, lost keys. This list is not exhaustive, full details of all exclusions will be provided on request and at the time of rental.

Road Restrictions - Motorhomes can only be driven on sealed/bitumen roads. The only exceptions to this are well maintained access roads of less than twelve kilometres to recognised campgrounds and well maintained, recognised roads on Kangaroo Island (South Australia). Should you wish to travel on an unsealed road that is greater than twelve kilometres in length to access a recognised campground special permission can be arranged pending road condition, weather and distance. Please check all restrictions for your intended route when collecting your vehicle.

Security Deposit - A security deposit is required on all rentals, which must be paid by credit card*. The credit card holder must be present and able to sign for the vehicle security deposit upon vehicle collection. The credit card holder is jointly and severally liable for any damage to the rental vehicle. Any type of prepaid card or  debit card is not acceptable.

Deposit amounts vary depending on the insurance cover you have taken:
Standard Rentals (no Liability Options taken): deposit is $7500
Liability Option 1: deposit is $2500
Liability Option 2: deposit is $220

The amounts shown are debited to the hirer's credit card when the vehicle is collected. For this reason it is important that the hirer have the funds available on the credit card and that the amount does not exceed the hirer's daily withdrawal allowance available on the credit card. (A 2% administration fee is levied on Visa & Mastercard transactions, A 4.5% fee applies to American Express).

The vehicle security deposit is fully refundable provided the vehicle is returned on time, to the correct location, undamaged, in a clean condition and with full fuel tanks (fuel being petrol or diesel) and gas bottle. Except where the customer has purchased PGO (PGO is included in the maui Premium Package) and/or Pre Purchase Fuel (PPF), failure to return the vehicle with full petrol or diesel tanks and/or a full LPG bottle will result in refill charges, which will be advised upon return of the vehicle. maui reserves the right to retain an AU$220 cleaning fee if the vehicle is not returned in a clean condition. This includes smoking related cleaning, as smoking is not permitted in the vehicle. The toilet and wastewater tank must be emptied prior to the return of the vehicle, or an additional AU$125 soiling fee will be retained.

* Valet Service entitles those with rentals of 21 or more days to have their vehicle detailed and checked at any maui location (48 hours notice needed). Linen & bedding may be exchanged for fresh at any maui location during any rental.

For a fee of £45 per day (maximum £2250 per rental) you will receive these additional items:

- Taxi fare from closest airport to maui branch upon vehicle collection only. (Receipt must be presented for re-imbursement)
