Rental Information

Rental Locations
Maui has offices in the following locations:- Adelaide, Alice Springs, Brisbane, Broome*, Cairns, Darwin, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth & Sydney.

A remote location fee of A$450 applies to all rentals collecting or returning (or both) to Broome.

Collection & Return
All rental locations are open 7 days a week (excluding Christmas Day). Offices are open from 8am to 4.30pm and vehicles may be collected at any time during these hours. All vehicles must be returned to by 4pm on the final day of your rental. We suggest you allow 45 minutes for the check-in/check-out process.

Pick up and drop off after branch hours may be available by prior arrangement. A AU$100 fee will apply (subject to change).

Driver Requirements
Drivers must be 21 years of age or over. If you are over the age of 75 years, a medical certificate is required at time of vehicle collection stating you are medically fit to operate a motor vehicle. All drivers must hold a full driver’s licence (f your licence is not in an English format a valid International Drivers licence is also required).

Rental Rates
Rates are calculated on a daily basis. The day you collect your vehicle is regarded as day 1, and the last day is also counted, irrespective of the time of pick up and drop off.
e.g. A pick at 2pm on 01 November and drop off at 10am on 08 November is counted as 8 days hire. Likewise, if you were to pick up the vehicle at 8am and return it at 4pm on the same dates, this would be still counted as 8 days. Therefore to gain the best value from your rental we recommend you collect your vehicle as early as possible and return it at 4pm on your final day.

Rental Period
The minimum rental is 5 days for the Spirit 2 and Spirit 2T/S
The minimum rental is 7 days for the Spirit 4 and Spirit 6.
A 7-day minimum also applies to all one-way rentals and all hires between 15 December 2008 and 5 January 2009 (all locations).

Insurance Conditions
Standard rates include standard insurance that has an excess fee of A$7500. In the event of any damage to either the Maui vehicle or third party property, the renter will be liable for the first A$7500 of damage. You may upgrade your insurance and reduce the excess amount by taking one of the following options:

Excess Reduction Option 1 A payment of A$20 per day (maximum charge per rental A$1000) will reduce the excess for any damage to either the Maui vehicle or third party property to A$2500. This fee is payable direct to Maui at the time of rental.
Excess Reduction Option 2

A payment of A$38 per day (maximum charge per rental A$1900) will reduce the excess for any damage to either the Maui vehicle or third party property to NIL. This fee is payable direct to Maui at the time of rental.

No Worries Cover Option
This option is a one off fee of AU$50 per hire. It is only available when Excess Reduction Option 2 has been purchased. The No Worries Cover Option extends the cover available with Excess Reduction Option 2 to include cover for accidental damage to the overhead and underbody sections of the Motorhome. Please note overhead and underbody damage cover is excluded unless the No Worries Cover Option has been purchased.

Full insurance terms and conditions will be provided at the rental office when collecting your vehicle. Please ensure you fully understand the terms prior to signing your agreement.

Security Deposit
When collecting your vehicle a Security Deposit is payable, the level of which is determined by which insurance coverage you have selected.
Standard Rates - Security deposit of A$7500 is payable by credit card*
Excess Reduction Option 1 - Security deposit of $2500 is payable by credit card*
Excess Reduction Option 2 - Security deposit of $220 is payable by credit card*

* All credit card transactions are subject to a 1.75% credit card surcharge (4.5% for American Express cards).

On returning the vehicle any extra charges incurred will be balanced against the deposit and a refund (if applicable) will be issued.

Standard Rate Inclusions
Our rental rates include all of the following:
- Unlimited kilometres
- Vehicle insurance (excess fee applies, see insurance information)
- Starter pack
- Vehicle registration surcharge
- Personal kit (1 per person - towel, pillow, pillowcase, duvet, bed sheet)
- Kitchen kit (tea towels, crockery, cutlery & cooking utensils)
- Extra driver fees
- 2.5% Stamp Duty & 10% GST
- Travel wallet including road maps and travel information
- Taxi fare from Airport to rental office on pick up only*
- 24 hour roadside assistance

* Taxi fare must be paid to the taxi driver, Maui will reimburse you upon presentation of a receipt to the Maui staff.

Premium Package
For supplement of £23 per day you may upgrade your rental to the Premium Package. This includes:-
- Excess Reduction option 2 (reduces insurance excess to nil)
- No Worries Cover - Picnic table and chairs (one for each person travelling)
- Child/Booster seat (not available with Spirit 2 or T/S)
- Pre-purchase Gas option (does not include fuel/petrol).

One Way Rentals A minimum rental period of 7 days applies to all one way rentals. One way rentals are permitted between all locations. A one way fee of AU$220 is applicable for all rentals of 21 days or less.

All one way rentals must be reserved in advance. If you wish to change the drop off destination after the rental has commenced, you must seek authorisation from Maui. Subject to the change being approved an additional drop off charge of A$500 will apply

Other Charges
An Airport Concession Fee of A$16.50 per hire is payable for all collections from Hobart Airport.

The renter is responsible for all infringements, speeding, parking, toll fees and/or any third party property damage not reported on the return of the vehicle. An administration fee of A$60 will be applied per fine/charge.

Driving Restrictions Vehicles may only be driven on sealed/bitumen roads. Vehicles may not be driven off-road or on gravel roads. The only exception to this rule are well maintained access roads to recognised campgrounds and the roads on Kangaroo Island (South Australia).

- Souvenir Road Atlas A$20 for purchase
- Pre-purchase Gas A$19 per vehicle for Spirit 2
A$29 per vehicle for Spirit 2 T/S, Spirit 4, Spirit 6

* A first aid kit is provided in each vehicle. If the seal is broken it becomes the property of the renter and must be paid for.

Campgrounds in Australia
Australia has an extensive network of holiday parks in all major tourist centres and in most towns. Maui recommends BIG4 Holiday Parks in Australia. They offer excellent recreational facilities, as well as resources to dispose of your wastewater. They also have provision for you to plug your vehicle into 240vs main power for vehicles that feature heating and/or microwave.
