RENTAL CONDITIONS

This document contains a summary of some of the Rental Conditions. For full detailed Conditions refer to the Conditions schedule in the Rental Agreement. Please note all prices quoted in this document are in Australian dollars. Rates and Conditions quoted in our brochures and/or documentation are subject to change without notice.

RENTAL DURATION

• Rental days are calculated on a 24 hour basis.
• Minimum rental period is 1 day, 3 days for one way rentals.
• Special conditions are available for rentals of more than 30 days. Details available on application.

Early return of vehicle does not entitle the hirer to any refund of the unused portion of the rental. Britz allows a grace period of 59 minutes before the hirer is liable for late return charges.

• 1 hour late, one third of daily rate will apply
• 2 hours late, two thirds of daily rate will apply
• 3 hours late, one full day rate will apply

ONE WAY RENTALS

One way rentals are available between our branches. The minimum rental period is 3 days. One way rentals with pick up or drop off in Alice Springs, Darwin and Perth are subject to a AU$200 One Way Fee.

EXCESS REDUCTION

Personal Injury is covered in most cases through Registration 3rd Party Insurance. Britz strongly recommends that all clients take out Personal Injury Travel Insurance

Standard Excess Reduction

Britz rates include a standard excess of AU$1000 for Accident Damage Excess and Single Vehicle Accident Damage. This excess applies in respect of each claim, not per rental. The excess must be paid at the time the accident report is completed, not at the completion of the rental. The bond of AU$1000 can be paid by cash, traveller's cheque or credit card. Should the bond be paid by credit card the amount will be debited to your account immediately. This is fully refundable on return of the vehicle to the agreed location on the agreed date, with no damage incurred to the Britz vehicle or third party property and with a full tank of fuel.

To reduce this excess, Britz offers the following options:

Excess Reduction Option 1

Excess Reduction Option 1 at AU$15.00 per day (maximum charge AU$750) will reduce the excess for Accident Damage and Single Vehicle Accident Damage to AU$500. The bond of AU$500 can be paid by cash, traveller's cheque or credit card. This is fully refundable on return of the vehicle to the agreed location on the agreed date, with no damage incurred to the Britz vehicle or third party property and with a full tank of fuel.

Excess Reduction Option 2

Excess Reduction Option 2 at AU$25.00 (maximum charge of AU$1250) will waive the excess. The security deposit of AU$250 needs to be paid upon vehicle collection and can be paid by cash, traveller's cheque or credit card. This is fully refundable on return of the vehicle to the agreed location, on the agreed date, with no damage incurred to the Britz vehicle or third party property and with a full tank of fuel.

EXCLUSIONS:

(a) Standard Excess, Excess Reduction Option 1, and Excess Reduction Option 2 do not cover water submersion or salt water damage.
(b) Personal belongings are not covered. We recommend the hirer does not leave valuables in the vehicle and should take out personal insurance.
(c) All Excess Reduction is void if the terms of the Rental Agreement are breached. The hirer will be responsible for the total cost of any damage. This will also include any damage caused by willful conduct (e.g. sitting or standing on the bonnet or roof of the vehicle) and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

INFRINGEMENTS

We reserve the right to charge the hirer for any speeding or parking fines, associated administration costs and/or accidents including third party property damage not reported on return of the vehicle.

EXCHANGE RATE / CURRENCY VARIATIONS

All credit card transactions are conducted in Australian dollars. Due to exchange rate fluctuations there could be some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount initially charged. Britz accepts no liability for any variances up or down.

CREDIT CARDS

If a credit card is presented as payment, the credit card holder will be jointly and severally liable as a customer.

LICENCE

A valid, non-provisional, Australian driving licence is required. In case of international hirers, we strongly recommend that the country of origin licence is accompanied by an international driver's permit.

MINIMUM AGE

Drivers must be 21 years of age or over. A medical certificate is required for drivers over the age of 75.

MULTIPLE RENTALS

Multiple rentals can be combined to qualify the hirer for our long term rate. Motorhome and car rentals in Australia, New Zealand and Africa can be combined to qualify if travel is within a 3 month period.
e.g. One 14 day rental plus one 7 day rental qualifies for the 21 day rate.

PICNIC PACK

All cars include a bonus picnic pack, consisting of an esky, crockery, cutlery, bottle opener, chopping board and food storage container.

CHANGE OF DROP-OFF DESTINATION

If the hirer wishes to change the drop off destination after the Rental has commenced, authorisation from the Reservations Centre in Melbourne must be obtained first. Subject to the change being approved, an additional charge of up to AU$700 may apply.

ROAD RESTRICTIONS

Rental cars can only be driven on sealed/bitumen roads. Driving on unsealed roads will invalidate all Excess Reduction. Britz reserves the right at its sole discretion to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions.

REPAIRS

Any problems associated with the vehicle, including equipment failure, must be reported to Britz as soon as possible, and within 24 hours in order to give Britz the opportunity to rectify the problem during the rental. We do not accept liability for any claims submitted after this period.

Repairs up to AU$100 may be effected without authorisation and will be reimbursed. For amounts over AU$100, Britz will need to be informed in advance. Repairs will be approved provided the hirer was not directly responsible for the damage. Receipts must be submitted for any repair or the claim will not be paid.

CHANGE OF VEHICLE

We reserve the right to substitute a comparable or superior vehicle at no extra cost in some circumstances. This shall not constitute a breach of contract, and does not entitle the hirer to any refund.

CANCELLATION FEE

The cancellation fees are:

If cancelled 25 days prior to pick-up: No Fee
If cancelled from 24 to 6 days prior to pick-up: 15% of Gross Rental
If cancelled 5 days or less prior to departure or a No Show: 40% of Gross Rental
If vehicle is returned early for any reason whatsoever: No refund available

IMPORTANT

Britz reserves the right to refuse any rental at its discretion.

PETS

No pets are permitted in our vehicles.

PERSONAL CHEQUES

Personal and Company cheques will not be accepted as payment for rentals at the time of pick-up. These must be paid to Britz 14 days prior to commencement of rentals. Personal or Company cheques are not acceptable as the vehicle security deposit.

DISCLAIMER

Illustrations and text in any of our brochures are a representation only of the vehicle depicted. Variances in the vehicles offered for rental could occur due to modifications and/or upgrades to the vehicle design by the manufacturer.

Cars and car groups are subject to availability and may vary by location. Bookings can only be accepted by car group, not specific make or model.

Vehicle specifications are supplied by manufacturers and are given as a general guide only as they are subject to change at any time.
