Day 1. Darwin, Kakadu National Park, Nourlangie Rock,
Yellow Waters Wildlife Cruise (L)
Depart Darwin 7.00 a.m., travelling across the Marrakai Plains and into
Kakadu National Park, inscribed on the World Heritage List. Visit the
aboriginal art site of Nourlangie Rock. Following lunch, join your boat
cruise on Yellow Waters, Kakadu's most famous wetland area, keeping a
look out for crocodiles and birdlife. Overnight: Kakadu National Park.
Day 2. Ubirr Aboriginal Art Site, Guluyambi East
Alligator River Cruise (L)
Time for optional morning flight over the escarpment (own expense). Travel
to Ubirr where an easy walk will lead you to galleries of aboriginal rock
paintings, dating back thousands of years. Join local aboriginal guides
for a cruise on the East Alligator River and learn of the unique aboriginal
culture as you land on Arnhem Land. Visit Bowali Visitor Centre this afternoon
before returning to Darwin via unusual termite mounds. Arrive 7.00 p.m.

Day 1. Darwin
Welcomed at Darwin Airport for transfer to hotel. Remainder of day at
leisure. Overnight: Darwin for 4 nights.
Day 2. Kakadu National Park-Nourlangie Rock-Yellow
Waters Wildlife Cruise (L)
Travel across the Marrakai Plains and into Kakadu National Park, inscribed
on the World Heritage List. Visit the art site of Nourlangie Rock and
view the ancient galleries of aboriginal rock paintings, then to Warradjan
Aboriginal Cultural Centre for an in-depth understanding of the culture
and history within the park. Join your guided boat cruise of Yellow Waters,
Kakadu's most famous wetland area, keeping a lookout for crocodiles and
the abundant birdlife.
Day 3. Katherine Gorge Cruise-Nitmiluk National Park-Edith
Falls
Travel south to Nitmiluk National Park for your guided cruise of spectacular
Katherine Gorge. Enjoy an informative commentary on the flora and wildlife
and view galleries of ancient aboriginal rock art as we cruise between
the scarred orange walls. This afternoon visit Edith Falls where you have
time to swim in the papaerbark and pandanus fringed pool. Return to Darwin
via Pine Creek and Adelaide River, the relocation point for Australian
and American forces following the bombing of Darwin during World War II.
Day 4. Litchfield National Park-Florence Falls-Wangi
Falls (L)
Tour into the picturesque landscapes of Litchfield National Park today,
a sample of Top End wilderness and beauty of some 146 000 hectares. Leaving
Darwin, pass a series of vintage World War II airstrips to arrive in Batchelor.
Climb the rocky Tabletop Range where dry woodlands and forests dominate
the huge sandstone plateau of Litchfield. Stop to photograph the mass
of intriguing magnetic termit mounds, see the striking double waterfall
forming Florence Falls and Tolmer Falls, cascading over two high escarpments
into a distant, deep waterhole. Continue to the crystal rock pool at Wangi
Falls. Time for a refrehing swim or a nature walk to the top for magnifient
views of the picturesque setting.
Day 5. Darwin
Free time before transfer to Darwin Airport.

Travel past sandstone outcrops, escarpments, forests, flood plains and
billabongs - a memorable experience as you see places inaccessible to
most. Hear of traditional land ownership, learn bush skills and hunting
techniques, food gathering and preparation of bush tucker. You will also
be privileged to view a fascinating display of Aboriginal art in its natural,
untouched state. Most tours are led by an Aboriginal guide. (L)
Day 3. Ubirr, East Alligator River Cruise, Arnhem
Land, Bowali Visitor Centre, Darwin
Time for morning flight over the escarpment (own expense). Visit Ubirr
and view Aboriginal rock art. Accompanied by an Aboriginal guide, cruise
the East Alligator River forming the border between Kakadu National Park
and Arnhem Land. Visit Bowali Visitor Centre this afternoon. Take photos
of the giant ant hills before heading to Window of the Wetlands Visitor
Centre. Enjoy a glass of wine while the sun sets over the flood plain.

forest surrounded by towering cliffs. Continue along the winding sand
track to Twin Falls Gorge and paddle a canoe on the calm, clear waters
to Twin Falls, where you have the opportunity to take a refreshing swim
in this picturesque 'Outback' setting. (L) Note:
A reasonable level of fitness is required and you must be able to swim.
Should seasonal conditions not permit a visit to Twin Falls, it will be
replaced with alternative touring.
Day 3. Ubirr, East Alligator River Cruise
Time for a flight over the Arnhem Land escarpment (own expense). Travel
to Ubirr before joining the East Alligator River Guluyambi cruise. By
special permission, enjoy a short walk into Arnhem Land accompanied by
Aboriginal guides. This afternoon visit Bowali Visitor Centre. Take photos

There is time this morning to take an optional 30 minute scenic flight
over Kakadu and the spectacular Arnhem Land Escarpment. Cruise along the
East Alligator River. We generally have an Aboriginal guide with us and
with the special permission of the local people, we will be able to go
ashore in Arnhem Land. Continue to Ubirr where the rock paintings are
believed to be 20,000 years old. Inspect the Bowali Visitors Centre before
returning to Darwin at approximately 7.30pm. (L)
Note: During the months of November to May, access to Ubirr and East Alligator River is not always possible. Alternative touring will be arranged.

Day 3: Arnhem Land
Travel by 4WD into Arnhem Land and the Mikinj Valley. View Aboriginal
rock art in a natural and untouched state. This afternoon journey to Jabiru
and visit the Bowali Visitor Centre where your tour concludes. An AAT
