Day 1 Sat: Darwin
You will be met on arrival at Darwin Airport (flights prior to 2.30pm,
airfare not included). Tonight enjoy dinner and a welcome drink with your
Tour Director and fellow passengers. Accommodation: Carlton Hotel, Darwin.

Day 2 Sun: Darwin - Kakadu
Enjoy a brief orientation tour of Darwin. This morning visit the Territory
Wildlife Park, a great introduction to the Top End. Continue to Kakadu
National Park and visit the Bowali Visitors Centre. This afternoon there
is the opportunity for an optional scenic flight over Kakadu. Accommodation:
Gagudju Crocodile Hotel, Jabiru, 2 nights. (BD)
Day 3 Mon: Kakadu
Cruise along the East Alligator River bordering the rocky escarpment of
Arnhem Land. Numerous saltwater crocodiles and birds may be seen. We generally
have an Aboriginal guide with us and with the special permission of the
local people will be able to go ashore in Arnhem Land. Later walk around
Ubirr and view Aboriginal rock art dating back some 20,000 years. (BD)
Day 4 Tue: Kakadu - Katherine
Join a wildlife cruise on Yellow Water Billabong. Our local guide will
keep us well informed about the birdlife and vegetation of the region.
Hopefully we will see the estuarine crocodiles that inhabit many of Kakadu's
river systems. Later visit the Warradjan Cultural Centre. Travelling south
we leave Kakadu and pass through Pine Creek. This afternoon we make a
stop at Edith Falls, where there is time for a refreshing swim. Arrive
in Katherine late afternoon. Accommodation: Knotts Crossing Resort, Katherine,

Day 5 Wed: Manyallaluk
Travel to Manyallaluk and join our Aboriginal guides for a walk through
the bush. Learn a little about bushtucker and traditional bush medicines.
See damper being prepared and when cooked, enjoy the warm damper with
a barbecue lunch. This afternoon join in the activities including traditional
bark painting, fire lighting, spear throwing, playing the didgeridoo and
learning the craft of basket weaving. (BLD)
Day 6 Thu: Katherine Gorge
Join an early morning cruise along the Katherine River. The towering gorge
walls provide shelter to many species of birds and animals as they nest
amongst the vines and creepers clinging to the damp crevices in the sandstone
walls. On our return journey to Darwin we stop at the historic Adelaide
River Inn and Adelaide River War Cemetery. We have left this evening free,
you may wish to visit the Mindil Beach Markets (seasonal) which is an
entertaining evening. Accommodation: Carlton Hotel, Darwin, 2 nights.

Day 7 Fri: Litchfield National Park
Travel to Litchfield National Park and enjoy a swim in tropical Wangi
Falls. View beautiful Florence Falls and Tolmer Falls. Upon return to
Darwin enjoy a visit to the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory.
You may wish to end this wonderful day by joining an optional dinner with
your fellow passengers. (B)
Day 8 Sat: Depart Darwin
Morning at leisure for last minute shopping or to relax by the pool. You
will be transferred to the airport transfer to connect with your onward

Passengers from Adelaide join 11.00 a.m. Travel north to Port Augusta
and visit Wadlata Outback Centre for an interpretive outback experience.
Overnight: Port Augusta, Standpipe Golf Motor Inn.
Day 2 Tue. Coober Pedy (BD)
Pass the Woomera Rocket Range to the opal-mining town of Coober Pedy.
Opals were discovered here in 1915 and today sees thousands of mines in
the area. Sightseeing includes a visit to an underground home, church
and Umoona Opal Mine. Overnight: Coober Pedy, Desert Cave Hotel.
Day 3 Wed. Ayers Rock, Red Centre (B)
Our destination today is the unique desert lands of the Northern Territory.
Leaving Coober Pedy, visit the Breakaways, a low range of sandstone outcrops
featured in the film premier, "Priscilla Queen of the Desert". 12-Day
passengers fly to Ayers Rock and transfer to hotel. On arrival in Kata-Tjuta
National Park we drive out to sunset strip for pre-dinner drinks while
taking in a magnificent Uluru sunset. Overnight: Ayers Rock Resort, Desert

Day 4 Thur. Ayers Rock, Olgas (BD)
Few words can describe your first sighting of Ayers Rock (Uluru), the
mighty monolith rising some 1050 feet from the desert plain. This morning
you have the option to climb to the top or take a walk around the base,
viewing aboriginal art sites and caves. Alternatively, join the "Liru
Walk" with aboriginal guides (must be pre-booked, additional US$35, Cdn$45).
Drive out to the Olgas (Kata Tjuta) before our "Dine Around Dinner" tonight
- your choice from three restaurants in the resort's hotels. Alternatively,
experience the "Sounds of Silence" - an unforgettable opportunity to dine
in the desert (must be pre-booked, additional US$40, Cdn$50).
Day 5 Fri. Kings Canyon Rim Walk (BD)
You will be entranced by the natural beauty of Kings Canyon today. For
the energetic, climb to the rim for spectacular views. From here, walk
through the eerie rock formations of the "Lost City" and down into the
"Garden of Eden", a permanent waterhole surrounded by lush palms. Overnight:

Day 6 Sat. Standley Chasm, Alice Springs (B)
By special permit, we journey through aboriginal land and scenic desert
landscapes to the West MacDonnell National Park. See the colourful cleft
of Standley Chasm, and Simpsons Gap. Overnight: Alice Springs Resort for
2 nights.
Day 7 Sun. Alice Springs Desert Park, Pioneers Barbecue
Dinner (BD)
The morning is free to explore Alice Springs at your own pace. In the
afternoon, visit the Desert Park where you can wander through three different
desert habitats and learn of the plants and animals living within. After
this we visit the historic Telegraph Station and Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Relax by the camp-fire this evening at our special Pioneers Barbecue.
Sample local specialties of kangaroo, beef steak and damper (bush bread).

Enjoy the city sights of Adelaide. Travel to South Australia’s mid-north,
a region noted for its fine wines and historic towns. Visit the Wadlata

Day 4 Tue. Coober Pedy (BD)
Travel the Stuart Highway passing the giant salt pan of Lake Hart, to
Coober Pedy, the world’s largest opal-producing centre. Tour Umoona Mine,

timber and the extreme environment, many of the locals have gone underground.
Enjoy a guided tour of an underground home and church. Accommodation:

Travel across remote desert plains before crossing into the Northern Territory,

Enjoy a visit to School of the Air which provides schooling to the children
of the ‘Outback’. Travel north to Bond Springs Station set on 1500 square

station during our guided tour. Cross the Tropic of Capricorn and then
explore the unusual boulders of Karlwekarlwe (Devils Marbles). Accommodation:

Travel through the scattered settlements of Elliott and Daly Waters. Cross

Today we drive to Cloncurry, home of the first Royal Flying Doctor Base.
Continue to the Gulf of Carpentaria (after rains, roads in this region

Day 19 Wed. Gulflander, Undara Lodge
This morning we make our way to Normanton and board the Gulflander train
to Glenore (Critters Camp). Reboarding the coach, journey to the fascinating

Day 20 Thur. Lake Barrine, Cairns
This morning a Savannah Guide will take us through a section of the ancient
lava tubes, created some 190 000 years ago. Tour the Atherton Tablelands
including Millaa Millaa Falls, Curtain Fig Tree and Lake Barrine. Arrive
in Cairns early afternoon. Camp: Cairns, Coconut Caravan Village for 3

Day 21 Fri. Skyrail, Army Duck
Ride the Skyrail Cableway over World Heritage rainforest to Kuranda. Enjoy
a dance by the Pamagirri Aboriginal Dancers at Rainforestation. Visit
the wildlife enclosure and enjoy an adventure ride in the Army Duck as
it travels into the rainforest on land and over water. Option to return

The beauty of the Great Barrier Reef is a sight to behold today. Cruise
