Route 66, originally ran from Chicago to Los Angeles, taking in eight states. The name has been immortalised by Chuck Berry, The Rolling Stones and Depeche Mode and was named “The Mother Road” in Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath. It was also the subject Billy Connolly's Route 66 TV series in which the comic and actor travelled the whole 2,488 miles of the route on a motor-trike. Pixar's John Lasseter was inspired to make Cars after including Route 66 on a family road trip.
