Rental stations are open Monday to Saturday, no pick-ups or returns are allowed on a Sunday or Public Bank Holidays.

Driving Requirements

The minimum age is 21 years. There is no charge for ‘extra drivers’ but all must possess a full and valid UK License and passport and all must be present at pick up to sign the rental contract. A valid credit card is also required.

Arrival Day

Motorhome companies insist that you to spend your first night in North America at a hotel located near your pick-up city. We recommend you allow us to book your hotel when we reserve your motorhome.

Collecting your vehicle

You may collect your vehicle between 1pm & 4pm (or earlier if you choose the Early Birders option). On the day of your pick up you must telephone the rental station in the morning to book your pick up time (between 1pm & 4pm). Arrivals at the rental station without prior notice may result in departure delays, for which Cruise America accepts no responsibility. A 30-minute to one-hour tour of the operations of your vehicle will be given prior to your leaving the rental station. Transfers to the Rental Station are not included in your pre-paid costs unless you choose the Early Birders option.

Returning your vehicle

 You must return your vehicle between 9am & 11am (or by 3pm if you choose the Early Birders option). Transfers from the rental station to your airport are not included. A fee will be charged for each hour after 11am should the vehicle be returned late. The vehicle must be returned in the same condition that it was received excluding normal wear and tear.

Early Birder Option

The Early Birder Option allows you to collect your vehicle from 9am and return it by 3pm, giving you upto eight hours extra rental time. Transfers to the rental station from pre-advised designated hotels in designated areas (airport hotels) are also included for all your party. To arrange your transfer you must call the rental station early on the morning of your pick up (call from 08.30am), transfers will commence at 9am. (Please note: transfers will not be arranged for calls made after 11am).

The cost of this option varies depending on the day of your pick up. Tues, Weds or Thurs £166* per vehicle (*Excluding Boston, New York & Seattle £303 per vehicle) Mon, Fri or Sat £303 per vehicle (& weekdays following a public holiday) Sun (collection only, no returns) £592 per vehicle

Security Deposit

You will be asked to leave a US$500 refundable security deposit at pick up (payable by credit card). On returning the vehicle any extra charges incurred will be balanced against the deposit and a refund (if applicable) will be issued.

Restricted Areas

Alaska, Yukon & Northwest Territories Travel is permitted in these areas, however there are restrictions on certain roads. Please ask for details. Death Valley & Desert Areas Vehicles are restricted from operation in Death Valley & other desert areas during the months of July & August and at other times travel is at the drivers own risk. (Driver is responsible for all recovery & other charges). Mexico Vehicles are not permitted to enter Mexico. No insurance or other coverages will apply if vehicle is taken into Mexico. New York City Vehicles can be collected in either Newark or JFK Area. However due to restrictions on vehicle heights, propane gas and parking, vehicles are not permitted in Manhattan. Any violations to the above will result in any insurance becoming null and void. The customer will be held liable for all damages and expenses relating to the use of the vehicle in these areas.

Logging & Non Public Roads

Vehicles are not allowed on logging or other non-public roads. Ferry restrictions Vehicles can be transported by ferry. We advise that you reserve space for a minimum of 30-foot vehicle to avoid problems due to space on the ferry.

Standard Equipment

All vehicles are equipped with a 110v adapter, renter assistance guide, campground guide & value card, 25ft power cord, 25ft water hose, 20ft waste hose, matches, 9v battery and toilet roll. (Please note equipment is subject to availability and may be substituted without notice).

Personal Kits 

Optional Each personal kit ($50 per person) contains a sleeping bag, pillow, sheet, pillowcase, tea towel, bath towel and wash cloth.

Vehicle Kits 

Optional Each kit ($100 per vehicle) provides pots, pans, kettle, cooking utensils, torch, plates, cups, glasses, utensils, bottle opener, etc.

Generator Usage

Pre-paid unlimited generator usuage is available for $6 per night, or you can pay at the end of your rental at $3 for each hour the generator is used throughout the rental. The pre-paid option is to be paid locally on collection of the vehicle.

Petrol and Propane

All fuel is at your expense. Your vehicle will contain a minimum of a ¼ tank of petrol on collection and adequate propane for appliance use. You will be charged a deposit for this fuel depending on local rates. Return your vehicle with fuels at the smae level and you will get a refund on the fuel deposit. You will be given directions to closest fuel station on collection. No warranties are given concerning fuel consumption rates. Insurance Insurance has been simplified without reducing any of your benefits. All insurance is included in your rental costs, giving you peace of mind and removing the need to decide which level of insurance to take.

Rental rates are based on the Cruise America Flex system. This takes no account of seasons, but is based on availability of vehicles and is designed to give you the best possible rate at the time you book.

The Flex Plan offers a variable daily price for each vehicle, by departure date and location. The earlier you book the more chance you have to get the lower flex rate. The more vehicles that are available, the cheaper the price will be, no matter what time of the year you book.  A slight change to your original routing could make a lot of difference on price. So, please rely on us to give you the best possible price available.

Mileage Costs:

Mileage is not included in the basic Flexrate.  There are 3 ways you can pay for your mileage:

Option 1 - Mileage packs  Pre purchase mileage packs in blocks of 500 miles for £165 per pack.  Simply work out how many miles you intend to drive and add the appropriate number of packs to your rental.*

Option 2 - Unlimited mileage  Pre pay an unlimited mileage supplement of £835 for rentals between 7 & 21 days.  Additional days are charges at £35 per day.  (This option is only available on options from 01 Jan 12 - 31 Oct 12)

Option 3 - Pay Per Mile  If you choose not to pre-purchase any mileagle packs or unlimited mileage, you will be charged $0.32 per mile driven.  This rates also applies to excess mileage over and above pre-purchased miles.

*Minimum rental period is 7 days.  Mileage costs are in addition to Flexrate prices.
