Route 66 - 14 Days

Day 1 - Chicago
Collect your car on arrival in Chicago and transfer to your hotel. Overnight at the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza or similar.

Day 2 Chicago to Springfield, Illinois
A full day to explore the Windy City. Stroll along Lake Michigan or simply enjoy the stunning architecture. Overnight at the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza or similar.

Day 3 Chicago to St. Louis (300 miles)
This morning you will be met by a representative for a tour briefing. Afterwards collect your rental car and begin your journey south along Route 66 as it winds out of Chicago to St. Louis, Missouri. Overnight at Red Roof Inn St. Louis or similar.

Day 4 - St. Louis - Springfield, Missouri (210 miles)
Leave the Mississippi River behind and travel along Route 66 through the scenic beauty of the Missouri Ozark region. Overnight at the Best Western Deerfield Inn or similar.

Day 5 - Springfield - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (310 miles)
Nowhere is Route 66 more at home than in Oklahoma, this section of your trip takes you through rolling countryside. Overnight at the Howard Johnson Express Inn or similar.

Day 6 - Oklahoma City - Amarillo, Texas (260miles)
Travel through the land where the Cheyenne and Arapaho Indians lived and hunted bison. Enter the Texas Panhandle, the haven of cowboys, oil-field roughnecks, and self-made millionaires. Overnight at the Best Western Amarillo Inn or similar.

Day 7 - Amarillo to Tucumcari (120 miles)
Before leaving Amarillo, make a visit to the Cadillac Ranch where you will find ten tail-fin Cadillacs half buried in the sand. Continue to New Mexico, driving through what once was the hunting ground of the Comanche Indians. Overnight at the Best Western Pow Wow Inn or similar.

Day 8 - Tucumcari to Albuquerque (180 miles)
Enjoy the sweeping views of New Mexico, The Land of Enchantment, as you approach today’s destination, Albuquerque, your home for the next two nights. Overnight at Best Western Rio Grande Inn or similar.

Day 9 - Albuquerque
A free day or perhaps take the short drive today that brings you to Santa Fe, famous for its galleries and museums, and known as the art centre of the Southwest. Overnight at Best Western Rio Grande Inn or similar.

Day 10 - Albuquerque to Holbrook (260 miles)
Today’s highlight is the Petrified Forest National Park, with its thousands of acres of petrified trees. Overnight in Holbrook, Arizona at the Best Western Arizonian Inn or similar.

Day 11 - Holbrook to Grand Canyon National Park (180 miles)
Travel through Navajo Indian Country toward today’s destination, the spectacular Grand Canyon National Park. A walk along the rim will provide you with memorable views of this stunning canyon. Overnight at the Grand Hotel or similar.

Day 12 - Grand Canyon National Park to Las Vegas (300 miles)
Today your drive takes you through Williams and Kingman to the Hoover Dam. Continue to Las Vegas, the glittering oasis in the desert. Overnight at the Imperial Palace or similar.

Day 13 Las Vegas
A full day to enjoy the “Entertainment Capital of the World” Overnight at Imperial Palace or similar.

Day 14 Las Vegas to Santa Monica / Los Angeles (290 miles)
ourney through the Mojave Desert today, stopping at the ghost town of Calico en route to Los Angeles and the termination of Route 66, Santa Monica. Overnight at the Los Angeles Airport Marriott

Day 15 Los Angeles/Santa Monica
Spend a full day at leisure in Los Angeles, the City of Angels.

Day 16 End of Tour
Spend your last morning relaxing in the California sunshine before returning your rental car at Los Angeles International Airport and transferring independently for your departure flight.
